Executive Director
Curt Bowen

Curt has led environmental development organizations and worked in rural development for over six years. Winning multiple awards for his biofuels and energy efficiency initiatives at Whitman College, he has proven himself as an inspiring leader and innovative thinker. He has worked in Central America for over two years and has developed a strong familiarity with Guatemalan and Central American cultures.
Chief Financial Officer
Sarah Machacek

Sarah has five years of sustainable development experience both in her local community and in Latin America. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Plant Biology with a focus in soil science and spent her senior year developing a school garden in a low-income community. She is fluent in Spanish and has a strong expertise in environmental education, project leadership, and fundraising. 
Field Director
Darren Yondorf

Darren holds a Bachelors of Science in Biology from University of Oregon, where he focused on ecology and microbiology. He is conversationally fluent in Spanish, has a strong record in project management at University of Oregon and has shown himself to be an adept researcher and fundraiser.

Field Technician
Trinidad Recinos

Trinidad was raised in an agricultural community and has been involved in sustainable development and civil resistance from young age. He worked as a non-profit’s leading technician for rural development six years and was head of Anacafe’s experimental demonstration farm, Buena Vista, for 12 years. He has always had passion for helping rural communities.

Joseph Bornstein

Joseph has six years experience in sustainable development project leadership and management and extensive knowledge of environmental change management. He spent a year on a Watson fellowship, traveling to Central and South America, Asia, and Europe, working directly with non-profits to study approaches to fostering environmental justice. He has studied and worked in Central America for close to two years, and possesses excellent Spanish speaking skills and cultural fluency.

Brook Golling

Brook has four years experience working in rural development and has an excellent track record in leadership. For nine years, he has worked to learn the trades of organic gardening, carpentry, masonry, and landscaping. He has studied and worked in Central America for two years, and has an excellent cultural understanding and speaks Spanish with near-native fluency.

Ryan Shea

Ryan has 5 years of experience in online media and fundraising working for many large and startup nonprofit organizations creating outreach and fundraising campaigns successfully increasing, web traffic, social media involvement, eCommunication, and online fundraising.
