San Antonio Huista, Huehuetenango
Nestled at the foot of some of Guatemala’s tallest mountains, San Antonio Huista is a small town in a predominantly coffee growing region. We are helping an association of farmers develop a low cost worm compost system that they can incorporate into their existing coffee processing machinery. The results will help farmers save money on fertilizer and make organic certification for their coffee even easier. |

Almolonga, Quetzaltenango Almolonga is a small town about 10 minutes from Xela, an important center of indigenous culture. Almolonga is often referred to as the “vegetable heartland” because it is the center for Guatemala’s vegetable production and organizes exports to several other Central American countries. We are currently working to train several promotores in soil conservation techniques and have begun a pilot worm composting project. |
